Chasing the Chaise…

No wonder all this outdoor furniture posts boiled down to— what about chaises and loungers!”. Yes, well.. how can I not look into it friends! After all most outdoors would look bare without outdoor chaise loungers. Relaxing on one of these beauties on a lazy afternoon with a book in hand is one of my favorite pastime….(often found asleep sun basking)…

Ok. On modern chaise designs and those designer outdoor chaises that look like picture perfect things till you glance at the price tag. Well, you need not shell off so much to earn luxury anymore. I have come across two great chaise designs that almost had me rethink about changing my own…

Athens Double Chaise Lounge

The Athens Double Chaise is great for couples. And they are sturdy things too. Made with extruded and hand cast aluminum, the result is completely casual and relaxing unit. The metal needs some routine cleaning, but I like to save on it for long time by covering it. The fabric cushions are good too….now what I do like is the great design and flow of vertical lines…and the casters make moving around easy.

Athens Single Chaise Lounge

For single seaters, check out the Athens Single Chaise Lounge. Everything is the same except the price (should be…yeah). The mounted armrests are fine. …and the bronze finish looks fine too. Yes, I do like the duo…. they are stylish yet simple—simple yet bestowed with elegance. A must check …

Clubbing is on!

I like the response on outdoor stuff. Well, I thought I almost covered it all on outdoor seating and outdoor clubchairs, but then I knew there is more to it(call it intuition). More of the history, the old Victorian leather club chairs were cute button-backed things, buddies with the Chesterfield sofas. Historically, leather was more of the club chair upholstery, considered gentleman’s furnishing material. From then to now, well we don’t cling so much to leather….

As to the modern outdoor furniture version, must say the Luma Contemporary has got the appeal. The broad seat and back are comfortable in cozy fabric (not leather), and the anodized aluminium looks perffffect for outdoors. But what I really like is the delicate balance of function and aesthetics. The ITTO and IBAMA certified material would make a practical choice for most quality conscious buyers. The polyboard surface in grey is good against all the colors, but I personally prefer frost grey for its neutral ness….i think it’s a cool club chair…

Luma Modern Sofa

The Luma Modern sofa is the big brother of the Luma Contemporary. The three seater is chic enough to have indoors and outdoor (though I think moving now and then wont be a great idea), but I think it is cozy enough to stay indoors. The colors are all great n all….and the fabric upholstery makes it all the more viable…

Luma Modern Ottoman

Luxury seating segment of furniture can’t be complete without Ottomans. These multi-utility furniture pieces easily fit into many a space to prove its credentials. One of my favorites is again a Luma collection—the Luma Modern Ottoman. For its sheer minimalist design and modern looks, I fancy having one for my home, just like that…I guess, it comes in four sizes. I quite like the fabric upholstery…leather is common…

Missing it out on outdoor tables

There we go…. I have been reading mails on more chairs, more sofas, and more mores like outdoor barstools and settes and, outdoor tables to go with such designs…so, I am going to look into each, one at a time….

On outdoor seating and sofas, I guess I missed on settes and they really are great outdoor things to have any day. The Luma Settee looks like the modern version of the ex- f-o-r-m. One from the award-winning fabricator, made with IBAMA (Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources) certified Ipe wood and anodized aluminium. I like the clean aesthetic lines and the finish that reflects the inherent natural beauty of Ipe. Ipe is claimed to be naturally resistant to rot, insects, UV exposure, ice, salt, abrasion, and splintering (and even 3 times harder than teak)! Designed for outdoors, the anodized aluminum ensures corrosion resistance, resistance to contamination and bacteria growth. I like it without any cushions, but there are cushions available too….

Luma Modern Coffee Table

This outdoor coffee table—the Luma—I like for its subtle presence! Made from Ipe wood that is considered as one of the densest and toughest wood on block, the construction is simple and stylish. ITTO certified wood (International Tropical Timber Organization), an organization promoting the use and trade of tropical forest resources. The anodized aluminium frame offers the right support and substance on design and durability, the table comes in five sizes to select from.

Luma Modern Bar Stool

On barstools, another Luma series must check out the Luma Modern barstool. The simplicity is enticing. I somehow like square designs on barstools for comfort reasons. Again, the ITTO AND IBAMA certified Ipe wood and sturdy anodized aluminium; it is great for outdoor bars. For bare versions, it’s just like it. For cushioned seats, there is acrylic fabric colors to choose from. It’s hard to be simple…hmmm…we like it.

Club it with Chairs

On outdoor seating stuff, I dedicate this blog to club chairs. Ever since its popularity in the nineteenth century in England, club chairs have been paralleled with relaxation (all men furniture then, now no more). Outdoor club chairs and sofas may have been upgraded to use more innovative materials, but the quintessence is the same. Still meant for relaxation, the designs have grown more innovative and comfortable.

Club6 Arm Chair

Must highlight the ones I find very close to the past concept. Thinking of getting one of these modern club chairs by the end of this year as we shift to our new home with more open space. The Club 6 armchair is closest to the olden idea of relaxation. And what I like is the broad snug seat and back and the firm steel base that looks like leisure without carrying the bulkiness from the past. It is bestowed with a strange quality of lightness, which actually is soothing. Made from polyethylene-based synthetic fibers—looks like sturdy stuff—made to weather off bad seasons outdoors. The furniture claims to be non-toxic and recyclable…check out the cool outdoor colors…

I like the extension of the above chair—the Club 2 seater sofa—it’s quite up-to-the mark. Constructed on sleek steel legs, the classic curved open back looks spectacular. I think it makes a combo-furniture. It can easily be used outdoors and indoors. Well, for outdoor I suggest natural colors, so that you can blend it up with neutrals and complimenting schemes…

Club Sunny Arm Chair

For drama, check out the Club Sunny armchair. à la mode! But you need to really have an updated furniture theme to match up the innovative geometric design. It’s a transformation of the armchair; I call it the future version. And it’s quite the thing. The design bestows the armchair with a mid-air light look for its very interesting use of shapes. Illusion…for subtle version, check out the colors in fiber and fabric…good job overall.

The Story of the Flower and the Embroidery…

Let’s look at a situation. You are through with the painting, curtains and décor and some accessories, and suddenly, you look at the picture perfect room and wonder, where is the punch…..how do you break the color even…..add that something which balances off the accent color and adds a lively vibrancy to the room. A big dasssssh of your personality to a décor won’t look too bad either….or else the room will end up looking like a great remake of the perfect bedroom, without any personal touch……

Well, I always say the smallest thing done in a thoughtful and creative way can do the wonder. A vase with a single tulip, a picture frame in accent color, a few complimentary or contrasting decorative pillows….all can just do great to bring in life to your décor….talking of pillow covers….must say they make a whole lot of difference when you know how to use them….take a look at a few of these beauties….

Corolla Silvia Pillow

The Corolla Silvia pillow has the greatest combination of colors to break any neutral theme. The vibrant, saturated colors and hand-embroidered bold leaf carries the right elements to brighten a space. Made of silk polyester, the cushion covers in cocoon corolla lines are modern and the blend of colors just perfect for modern bedding and décor.

Pollen Embroidery Pillow

The Pollen embroidery pillow has an understated presence, but will never go unnoticed. It’s for the sheer use of colors and embroidery done of cotton twill that transports you to another dimension. This pillow cover set can transform a space when you match it up with contrasting or complimentary colors. Designed to be safe, without any hard elements like buttons, it use of natural fibers that do not trap dust or electricity and free from allergy.

Dusk Fedele Pillow

Take a look at the Dusk Fedele to inspire yourself….even better, get one to stay inspired! I really like the color and embroidery in aqua hue…inspiring nature….inspired me for sure! The cotton twill pillow has warm, animated feel with silky soft floral embroidered in contrasting colors…it is great….take a look

Exclusively, for Kids!

They say everything comes off age. Literally, for growing toddlers, creativity means something different than what we adults perceive (it’s aging off with adults, I guess…smile). Small little details are all they need to stir up their imagination. And kids pillows are a great way to introduce your little ones to fun and learning. Just like they have those ‘a…b…c’ crib sheets for 1 year olds, you have exciting themes in floral and animals to add up to the colors in kids bedrooms.

You get designer kids pillows that can quite do the magic for your little soldiers. I tried with a few of these kids animal pillows for one of my clients, and the mural was done in different colored birds and animals, so I matched up the theme with animal pillows. Perhaps, you could do something to enhance the effect ...something off your imagination, take a look.

Zoo Cotton Frog Pets Pillow

Ha ha…the cutest pair of frogs, I quite like the Zoo Cotton Frog set….isn’t it vibrant! The twin pair is done in natural fibers and no hard elements to bother the young one, yeah…..no buttons….no zippers! makes a colorful décor thing for kids and the poly filling is quite safe and all, I guess…do check out the sizes….

Zoo Cotton Crab Pillow

Well, for adventure junior buffs, I think the Crab cotton pillow might be JUST the thing! My little one is a bit timid when it comes to these large animal creatures, but I have seen other kids go gagaaa over it. I think it makes an animated creature to have on your kiddoz bed… yeah, it’s one of those modern pillows designs for contemporary set ups….the polyfill pillow is hand embroidered and appliquéd.

Zoo Cotton Whale Pets Pillow

This is a fancy whale to have in your sea bed or bed sea! The Zoo Cotton Whale pet set is quite exciting, must I add! It looks like the cotton toy pillow can inspire many bed time stories with its presence! I think it would be great to have a set of these two…and again all the embroidery and all is great…and safe for kids…

For the Bedding Effects!

The blog on bedding had me all glued to my email and all. Well, I guess I can’t agree more on it….you see! Designer Bedding is an important bedroom article and it makes sense investing in some of these things for sleep, comfort and durability. For quality, you still need to shed off some bucks….and that’s one way to ensure you brought the right thing back home….

On luxury bedding designs, almost everything seems to be in, colors are in, big floral patterns and retro patterns look cool and a blend— n—match theme works well…honestly, what the heck, I mean….just add some of those luxurious cushions, throw pillows and covers and theme it all up….what’s important is your creativity,…so work up something on your own to match the scheming, and you must take a look at these casual bedding sets that look sooooo cool…

Pollen Bedding Set

The Pollen is what I mean by retro. Well, I guess every buck you pay is worth it. The reversible coverlet with hand-quilted patchwork with pure silk and…. the pillows and throw pillows are hypoallergenic and done well in cut-outs and embroidery, it’s all so good. The duvet coverlet has four great colors to choose from. The pillow filling is polyester and uses natural fibers to keep the dust away. Well named…Pollen….looks like the thing…like the picture puuuurfect on luxury bedding online.

Dusk Bedding Set

If spluttered color is quite your idea of buoyancy, I guess you ought to check out the Dusk Bedding! The retro look is contemporary and aesthetic, and what I like is the casual warmth it allows to personalize a space. The set has a vibrancy you can’t miss! The coverlet uses silk jacquard. Plus, it’s easy on the pocket and uses all the right things like natural fiber, NO zippers and buttons, and is available in three sizes. And you sure like the wool embroidery on the pillows.

Willow Bedding Set/Blue

Then there is the Willow set, all calm and soothing. It looks quite stylish to me, with its duvet in linen border and embroidery. The blue is a perfect retiring color, and there are pillows and sham with patterned embroidery to light up the theme. It comes in three standard sizes….and I quite like wat I see…

Lighting with Substance

I have often wondered about the utility part of lamps in everyday life. And I do know it for a fact that decorative table lamps can do wonders to the way a scheme appears in everyday life. For creating the kind of ambience you crave for, lights can actually be used to change the mood of any setting dramatically. Why…white lights have not been the favorite ones for designers, though they save fuel. Now you also get energy efficient bulbs that give you yellow light and also save electricity by about 60 per cent . Wow… and it so much fun to play with lighting and effects …..it’s a completely creative experience…

Speaking of which, I must add a few more entries to the modern table lamp category…why you get adjustable desk lamps that not just look good, but also offer you utility and great aesthetic appeal…

Bel Occhio Pendant

The Bel Occhio Pendant by Pablo Pardo looks like the most interesting design. Done in blow molded acrylic sphere, the multi-position spot light cum table lamp makes quite a statement. Don’t you like the awesome acrylic shell, neatly cradled in its base allowing adjustment with a touch of the hand.

The Ambiente tube top deserves more than a mention too. What I like is its great symmetry that looks almost compelling! The Top has a transparent acrylic base to support its elegant mesh fabric shade. It is light and appears to float freely, and is equipped with a dimmer to set different moods and tone…guess comes in 4 sizes….give it a look.

Pistillino Lamp Chrome

For a more dramatic look, you must take a look at the Pistillino Lamp Chrome. I absolutely love the mirror finish that even looks like an inspired piece from the original Valenti lamp designed in Italy 1969 by Studio Tetrarch. The material is Chromium plated PVC plastic and the unusual symmetry.
