Aladdin & Flying Carpets…

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Yeah, I can’t get off my imagination…every time I think of carpets, I see a handsome Aladdin riding on an attractive Persian carpet that even speaks! Ooh-lala! Lets get back to reality!!!!

Flying Contemporary Wedge by Nani Marquina

This one was great with its unassuming practicality. Made with expanded polystyrene with cent percent felt wool covering in grey, the Flying Contemporary Wedge is more of an innovative seating arrangement. The wedge weighs 9.4 lbs and looks very sophisticated and earthly. A jovial design by Nani Marquina, the Spanish Carpet is available in two sizes. Looks great and stumbles close to flying carpets and my imagination….. very economical, designer and sprightly …

Birds of same feather…well, it looks so, almost. A Nani Marquina creation, the Floc Contemporary Carpet looks contemporary, beyond doubt. The simplicity of this single-toned rug easily looks over the nuances of practical modern lifestyle. The rug uses the finest New Zealand wool and comes with choice in colors—Red, Pistachio, Orange, Mustard, Ivory & Brown. The carpet is very chic, very sophisticated and very much available in two sizes. I like the offbeat, minimal design of the Floc…

Lil Mo Classic Hand Hooked Rug

One of the most fun things, I think, in deciding the modern design for your home is looking for items that will give a personal touch. Take the Lil Mo Classic Hand Hooked Rug, for example, which is made of 100% cotton in a hand hooked design to go beautifully in any home. It is subtle and comforting, but the design is not something that you will be able to overlook when adding it to your home decor.

New Wave Contemporary Hand-Tufted Rug

For more choices in wool area rugs, I am loving the New Wave Contemporary Hand-Tufted Rug by Momeni, which is a design unlike any you have ever seen. This is something that is going to make your hand tufted rug a serious work of art, which is the whole point in choosing something so personal to decorate the floor of your home. The floor should not just be a floor, which is why these artisans have worked to design rugs in a totally different way to make you think twice about your rug choices.

Are You On Board With Wool Rugs?

Memories Tibetan Weave Hand-Knotted Rug

There’s a lot of thought involved in finding the right floor covering for your home, and wool rugs are a great place to begin, simply because they offer you the style and comfort that you’re looking for. For instance, the Memories Tibetan Weave Hand-Knotted Rug by Abbyson is a beautiful design in hand knotted rugs that is perfect in any living area of your home, or even your bedroom. The intricate design will offer you 17,280 knots for every square foot of rug, and this offers you the cultural style of a hand knotted Tibetan weave.

Woven area rugs have so much more to offer, especially because of the natural materials that this rug is made of, like 100% Himalayan Sheep Wool using all-natural vegetable dyes, making it a beautiful product to behold. Catch the eye of all of your guests by making this the touch you need in your home decor with a beautiful wool rug!

Z for Zebra

Friday, September 25th, 2009

If I were to spell ‘s-o-f-t’ in context to home décor, I would invariably utter area rug. Such is the power of ‘the carpet & mat factor’ in soft furnishings that sometimes bare floorings appear…well appear just dull n empty, I mean as if the floorz missing sumthin, that special something. And by the time you realize what is amiss, take time to figure out how warm and fulfilling these beauties look on the floor. Be it contemporary or traditional, the regular paisley designs, I guess rugs have come to mean a lot to our floors and to our idea of home décor…

Zebra Modern Rug

On some of the latest contemporary rugs, I just had to post these fun designs. The Zebra, the corner and the solar. Well, the Zebra Modern Rug patterns looked fabulous and I keep seeing it next to leather recliners and sectionals. Ok, the material used is Australian sheep flock, filling in polyester and backing is done in cotton. It is über and energetic, though I suggest you use it with contemporary setups or modern furniture and themes. And, a line to add would be balance the whites and blacks around the rug to further bring out the contemporary style…

Corners Modern Rug

The Corners Modern Rug modern I like for its neutral tones, and the patterned corners of course. It has an upbeat sporty look, and you could well scheme up a space without making any major changes around. And dats the part I like along with the highly contemporary features….I have been thinking of warm hues since I saw this rug…

Solar Designer Rug

The Fillmore Designer Loft Bed I like for its upbeat make and economy of space. The choice is yours—use it as trundle bed or a modular bunk system. This one too has an armoire with shelves for more storage (read considerate designing…). The guardrails are thoughtful, and the design accommodates 8-inch high twin x-long mattress. Now the best part abt the design—you can either attach the bottom bed underneath (like a regular bunk) or use it perpendicular for a change. like dem all…

ICFF Highlights-Indi B Rugs

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Indi B Rugs grabbed attention at the ICFF (a Candyland; no way!) for their inventive floor coverings. I did fall for some of their stunning decorative rugs. After working for several years, as Lead Designer, Architect and Project Director for some well know international interior design firms, Beatrice Girelli decided the time was right to strike out on her own and founded Indi B that to unique home furnishings.

It seems with more than 600 exhibitors from every corner of the globe, texture was one of ‘the’ theme at ICFF. So was wood—can’t forget Morimoto’s pendant lamps that were remarkable. Put on show were Girelli’s IndiB multi-level cut and loop modern area rugs in wool, viscose and silk with color-saturated images of gingko leaves and branches.

Silver Designer Handtufted Rug

My faves include the silver, the deck red and the branches.b. The Silver Rug I like for its individuality. The pattern is bold enough to fit into a variety of drawing and bedroom spaces, yet contemporary and soothing in its own way. Hand-tufted with New Zealand wool with viscose and silk accents, the cut and loop bestows the rug with a depth and rich quality. The rugs claim to be child labor free, in line with the UN Child Labor Law Convention.

Deck Designer Handtufted Rug

The Deck Designer Rug is unusual. The contrasts stand out. It has a feverish contemporary touch that looks addictive. I learnt that the rugs are soft, durable and easy to clean with warm water and soap! Uses cent percent New Zealand Wool, viscose and silk accents, sizes are freely customizable and colors can be opted for at added price.

Branches Modern Handtufted Rug

The Branches Rug seems to draw inspiration from gingko leaves and branches. The hand-tufted rug again uses cuts and loops to add dept and the result is a great rug design. The backing uses latex with cotton tape at edges.

Rugs, on more rugs…

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Hand-tufted rugs allow great scope for detailed patterns, individual styling and visual effects. The handcrafted art allows a great deal of versatility with its unique processing. I have seen modern area rugs, both contemporary rugs and regular patterns to have a fabulous effect in living areas. It is known fact that hand-tufted carpets absorb noise effectively, well….well….they never stop to fascinate me…make great eye-stoppers….here are a few modern patterns I am posting…

Modern Hand Tufted Rug

The Chelsea modern looks like a display of superb craftsmanship. Love the uneven abstract patterns that might also look like stones under your feet! Uses New Zealand wool with Ivory loop background…the pile height is 3/4 inch. I would call it quite trendy, even uber for that matter…

Designer Hand Tufted Rug

The Chelsea designer is more regular stuff that does not require too much of thinking around. The khaki (or chocolate) background is great for highlighting the filigree patterns. The neutral tones should make your job easy…it uses NZ wool, and is all velvety to touch…? The Linda C rug looks a shade inventive for starts. It has an subdued presence and the modern zig-zag separating the espresso and tan in leather shag accents…..its all pretty cool. The pile height is decent at 3/4 inches….it has a modern upbeat feel….I think it is casual and quite stylish…lend it your eye…
