The playroom is where a child’s imagination grows. And the Child Desks where it prospers. Well, I believe in having utility-based kid playroom furniture at home, those things that can be used for some years at a stretch, and the role of inventive design plays a key role in deciding on the furniture we purchase. J loves the touch of old furniture (guess he inherited it from me, and how we love to think of it..:)) well, well from kids playroom furniture to some sturdy designs for childrens desk I am going to focus on innovation.
Like the Loom desk with its understated presence. It is a genius disguised in solid wood. Now the best on consideration and I’m loving it again is the adjustable height(simple and thoughtful), it can be set on to two different heights. The power strip at the back, extra pull-out desk plane, the pedestal, the side draws and pencil draws is all considerate. Opt for low or high desk (age should determine) and I like the Natural Catalpa finish.
On desks, play tables seem to disappear from play scenes. Till I saw the Parker, I think having a play table (though sounds trivial) is a great idea to save your house from clutter and make playtimes more focused. The uses can be varied, I often find crayons and paper on the table, but most of the times its toys scattered. So, J and I, we do the clearing after every play session (he is 4 now). The Parker has a rolling drawer that can be turned into a storage bin later on. And the table top they claim is big enough to accommodate most train sets(smiles). Check the colors….
Imagine something mobile that you could easily move to the gardens and patios for evening play time. I like the Fundy as an overall play unit. Includes two different height leg sets(cool?) and the chalk board/dry erase top is great stuff, and the storage draws can be used to stock more things. There are like three finishes…I like the Birch….what say.
Animal Bags For Fun
Kids room as posted in my earlier blogs need not be a makeover from a magazine. Try to fill in the room with kids furniture (obviously) and creative things, small details here and there with help of some ideas(paint, mural, wall stickers) and readymade stuff (you know, I mean stuff that can’t be made at home without fuss and spare time). Rest of the room can reflect your unique touch through little things done your way.
Trust your instincts and involve your kiddo(if s/he is old enough) and keep an eye on the things and colors they prefer over others, try to add colors in small batches to break even. A loud kids furniture may be best in the day time with perky colors, but evenings may not be so soothing, so even it up with astute use of colors and patterns that balances the contrasts n all….draperies, murals and colorful rainbows can be hints…..and add workable elements in interesting manners.
I came across a great idea for storing my little girls heap of soft toys, and also add a little surprise to her room—the fun-fun way(the way she likes). I saw thee animal bags on Spacify while goin through their kids section, and must say found it an interesting idea. We did not know where to stack all her fave soft toys and its everyday thing taking them out, chattering and playing…..even napping with them.
Three designs—the trio, the oval and the otto. Colors and all, the bags in different shapes are oversized versions for stuffing all that’s on block, I like the zippered windows made out of transparent, durable mesh. The best features: fill the bag with stuffed animals of different size and shapes(placing the smaller ones on top), and use the animal bag as a soft seat. The Trio is for larger rooms, the Otto again big, while the Oval is for moderate sized bedrooms. All the colors are lively….allow your little one to choose a shape

Like Bunk, like metal..
I see all you feedback on kids bunk beds and it appears like some of you are looking for more designs…so keep posting your comments with suggested topics, emails are fine and comments are great. Some different concepts that struck me as novel are a couple of designs by Powell. Metal bunk beds are in for kids bedroom furniture….been hearing all about it…
The Max Twin I like for its mastery of color details, and prudent use of space. The top twin size bed, and full size below is the thing for siblings, sleepovers, and story time. The gauge metal tubing looks robust, the guardrails thoughtful and the slat system(for mattress) in pl ace. A fine design.
I think the Tiziana to be an inventive design. The futon bed plus twin bed is def. ‘out of the box’ stuff. Bunk bed has heavy gauge metal tubing, full length guardrails, and welded metal slat system for mattress support. You could attach the ladder on either side of the bed. I like the combo of country pine and black….though some colors would have been better.
The Ontario 3-in-1 is impressive. I like the burnished brown finish(looks classy to me) and the possibility of a trundle bed beneath the full bed, the composition has a quality of unity, and I like the way the twin bed appears to be standing separately on the full. Claims to meet Consumer Product Safety Commission mandatory safety standards. To me, it is a great design and storage solution.

Activity tables make multi-utility furniture for kids. I saw a unit that looks interesting and makes a great day-time table. The Knu kids table looks great for playing toys, trains, drawing, and puzzles….why, I even see kids having a mid-way snack between play times…? the Baltic birch ply construction is great, and I love the details like the safe shape of the chairs, and the great colors. The aluminum feet are round and look safe for little ones….sturdy, this one…

P’kolino’s Child desks are great little things to have around. Goes by the name childrens desk and is a smart compact unit with storage shelf right below the seat, looks good for 2—6 yr olds.looks great for toddlers learning to draw, write and read….it’ s really those quick things meant to be handy and all….claims to be easy to assemble….I am looking at more uses….well I can imagine it as a play thing too…..let your little one discover…?

The Harley Davidson Chair tree looks just the right gift for little ones. A great design, I love the details like Harley Davidson logo on the front, the silk screened flame on the tree and sides. The flip-top seat has a cool storage compartment; and I like the tree hooks for little caps, hats and coats. Every inch of the design bespeaks fun and utility ….a sturdy one this little devil….

I also like the Tiffany bow babys high chair for its cute and convenient design. A pretty bow for little girls, I quite like the details like the easy back, the cute seat cushion, the pink and white rattle bar for tiny ones, and the lift up tray that makes sitting so much easier for kids. It is economical, easy and makes great gift..

On other fancy children’s high chairs designs, I suggest the Coco Lounger for babies. Brought me a smile…? This chair makes a warm cocoon and a luxurious X’mas gift. A rocker with patented plexistyle ensures cozy sleep in its curved single piece frame with a self-rocking movement. I really like the 5-point security harness that can be adjusted as the baby grows. The micro-suede seat pad will take care of the comfort plus cleaning (considering the mess young ones make). This rocker rocks guys!! Check the great seat colors…?…lemme know what you think…

Thank you guys, I am glad to read from you all (as always). Kids storage furniture looks like the thing you guys are curious about….well, like I say with babies at home, the whole idea of utility draws towards practical things like furniture and stuff. Kids storage unit needs to function as many things as kids grow fast and you don’t want the furniture to go obsolete…not so soon at least…

Three designs on kids room storage cum changers, the Sabrina Modern Changer. The minimalist design includes side drawer for keeping the changing stuff out of sight, and the best feature so far for this unit is when the child grows the top can be flipped and made usable(for storage). Another version of a changer is the Modern loft. The design is more elaborate. There is a convenient storage tray along with a drawer that smartly conceals the changing essentials. I like the idea of a bottom shelf for added storage. The partition on the tray can be removed to convert it into a tray-topped cabinet once the baby grows. I think it makes a considerate design for everyday life….

As I look around, I saw something similar but not a changer. It’s a great design…must mention the Forest Designer Shelf. It looks like a handy thing to have around home and offices. The cute little cubicle is a great thing for smaller study rooms too. The wooden construction is available in red brown finish.

Ok. On more gift ideas, crib bedding is a popular choice. There are advantages on buying crib bedding sets for young ones as you don’t need to co-ordinate on other elements. Moreover, the set never goes wrong; some part can always be taken to the toddler bed, like the pillows and quilts.

The Enzo is more of my choice (not everyone’s necessarily though) as I like some form of lively pattern for kids bedding. This one is sure to infuse your nursery with style! Material: cent percent cotton and the set consist of slip-covered bumper pads, comforter, minky fitted sheet and tailored crib skirt. The machine washable set has three vivacious colors (I really like ‘em).

Try the Emilio that almost resembles the Enzo in its patterns. The reason I post it is that it’s a gender friendly pattern and the choice of colors is fabulous. It has in place the bumpers pads, skirts, the minky fitted sheet and comforter. Do check all the colors….

New Baby Stroller that rocks!

I often come across baby strollers that have features that are little used, or are too cumbersome. The designs are great, even exorbitant, but strollers will be strollers, and the basic function is to safely stroll the baby along different avenues. Bulkiness is one major drawback and I often find hi-tech designs to weigh a lot. When I looked at the Santo stroller, I must admit I started with a skeptical eye, but soon got optimistic as I discovered its simple and convenient features…

The details Include chassis, bassinet with mattress, stroller seat, hood, foot muff, wind cover, diaper bag, umbrella, mosquito net, rain cover and tire pump(hmmm….hmmm). The front and back shocks are in place, and the pram system can be used facing both the front and the rear. The best feature for babies is the fully adjustable seat recline for optimum comfort along with the five-point safety harness and the adjustable footrest. The hood has mesh vents and the front swivel wheels are equipped with 360 degree rotating mechanism (a regular with most cribs). There is underseat storage, compact folding and fine stationary wheels at the back.

Another utility item to go with the stroller (and the best one so far) is the Delia organizer. Easily mounted horizontally or vertically, the console has an Insulated cup holder, with many pocketed compartment in the middle and drawstring pocket on the exterior. The top flap conceals the center and this one attaches to most strollers. Makes life easy on the road, right….yeah…I agree..
