Function and Elegance

Monday, October 12th, 2009

You know what comes to my mind when I think of the ultimate relaxation zone at home? My cozy, warm and comfortable bedroom. I’ve been thinking of turning it into a place that spells sanctuary, you know, the perfect place to escape to on a Sunday morning, or an evening after a hectic day at work.

Tower Designer Bedroom Suite

One way to do that is to get the right bed. The kind that invites you to just sink into it and stays forever stylish. I like three beds from Spacify’s range of Designer Beds. One of them is the Tower Designer Bed. All it needs is a comfortable spring mattress on top of the metal base with slats and your designer bed is ready.

Monaco Wooden Bedroom Suite

The Monaco Wooden Bed is another good queen sized birch bed that I like because it’s stylish and practical.

Revelle Salon de Paris Bed by Zocalo

The Paris Contemporary Bed would be a great choice too. I’ve been looking for a bed that is functional and affordable and I’d say these are great finds. The design allows you more space for pillows and blankets, the perfect way to snuggle up with your near and dear ones. If you ask me, the highpoint of all these beds is their easy accessibility, especially if you have toddlers at home. The style factor remains constant with simplistic geometric lines and gorgeous wooden finishes in black, chocolate, natural, and walnut.

So many reputable designers are offering modern concepts in home furniture made in Italy that you won’t even know where to begin! Some of the hottest choices are BRF, which is offering contemporary European furnituree, Tonin Casa, for modern living room furniture, and Cosmetal for sleek home office and contract furniture. Glamour Leather Platform Bed Suite by Rossetto

Basically, you are going to feel like a kid in a candy store, so you just need to decide where to begin and which sophisticated Italian pieces you need to complete your home decor. To begin with the bedroom, I would recommend Rossetto for a much more modern take on beds and bedroom design. To add some finishing touches to your living area, look at Conmoto for innovative and designer fireplace accessories. You no longer have to view your home as it once was with these in demand options in Italian design!

Lure in the living room

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Wooden coffee tables are inspiring things. Creative use of color, great upholstered chairs, and unique table shapes in bold materials can make a living room look gorgeous. You can also mix the antiques look with modern pieces of your living space to hold the contrast, and to spice up the theme. Elements of interest, comfort and functionality top the list when you sit down to count on features. Coffee tables can infuse a space with vitality, be it the vintage, the traditional or the uber styling, all achieved perfectly with a perfect formula.

Whether designing a modern space like a home theatre seating area, or a more traditional one, a home should always carry the warmth and delight of a known space, a home in its essence. Do not underplay the importance of individual elements integrated to make the big impression. Also little bit of surprise zones here and there add to the personal styling. Last week i saw this great bedroom with little details like funky feather lace hanging from the curtains. It looked stunning and our charming host added she loves to see feather lace ever since she was a child….and she brought it to her own space in the most creative ways, must admit…

Modern Version: Bed & Suites

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Excepting toddlers, modern platform beds do great in most situations. They carry elements that look easy on the eye, provide great functionality and make your bedroom look one straight out of the contemporary bedroom collection. If you ponder upon possibilities there is enough room for every one. Personally, I like to see the space beneath a bed; it helps with the feel of shipshape space..

Designer platform beds work great with most bedroom shapes and sizes. Team it up with warm colored rugs and you have a casual-looking bed with modern features! I came across some suites and they deserve more than a mention….

Windsor Platform Bedroom Suite

The Windsor Platform Bedroom Suite is an urbane design that goes with the uber-metro-lifestyle. The low-profile bed bestows a touch of Oriental look while the wooden panel headboard and the entertainment unit, the two night lamps, mirror and the optional five-draw chest is all you will ever need to complete the look. I like the natural wood veneering, the headboard comes in many combos, and I guess you need to check out the colors …comes in 3 standard sizes.

Wynd Platform Bedroom Set

Another version would be the Wynd Set that’s quite stylish with its headboard in brown or white leather panels finish. These designer platform bed beauties looks quite the same except the fixed lamps, with an optional 5-draw chest, armoire of stand-alone mirror. The cherry finish looks superb on this design and it comes in 3 standard sizes. The wood veneering bestows it with a sophisticated stature….I think the entire set is worth a look…

To Leather and It’s Priceless Charms!

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Reinvent the theme in your bedroom with things that allow you to experiment. I normally play with the safest things, rounding up on some stable factors that I can’t afford to go wrong with. So, we have the bed in this list, and the furniture. Now, imagine what do I play with, keeping the universality intact, I play around with lighting, rugs, paintings, hangings, mirrors and hand-made art to create the effect that’s quite my own taste….it helps me feel at home.

I am sure we juggle with ideas for décor. And bedroom is a quiet respite, one that helps me return back to myself everyday. It needs to carry elements from my life that are important, my family pics, art (preserved ones too), and pieces that have a special meaning and value to me. Often, I find bedrooms to looking like designer Hotel suites with the best beds, furniture and art which is excellent too, except that they look all alike and cold, and one cannot imagine entering such a respite everyday….

Harris Contemporary Bedroom Suite

Ok, coming back to the constants. The bed, we used to have is a really nice Victorian styled bed that I have been using it for some years. I saw some great designs online—leather upholstered beds, some peppy Harris Contemporary Bedroom Suite. This year, we did our guest room, shifting the bed there and as per L’s list, we need a new modish bed for our room.

What I have been pondering upon, and will be true is switching over to leather upholstered beds. Fancy thing! Must mention the one I did like, it’s the Trendy Modern Bed (trendy & modern aren’t they the same)…I like the lush feel of leather—rich and vibrant and the metal legs look fine with leather. The leather is eco-friendly, btw, for the ones who care. It’s a regular queen size bed with great finish and slats for mattress (details!). Opted for white, also comes in eco-friendly black … white goes better with the polka fusion curtains we already have.

A-La Loft Bed…

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Ok, in response to your comment on bedroom lighting, I personally feel too much of fancy lighting is not needed in the bedroom; its more of a resting space so you can do with subdued shades with modern looking lamp base and structures…lights with dimmers are great too; for they allow you to decide the ambience and set it up as per your need. Allow yellow and blue lights to help you relax, bright color shades and heavy stuff can look bulky… we all have our individual tastes and preference, go for a style that tunes with your lifestyle and other bedroom furniture. Personally, I like casual lamps in unique shapes that gels with my bedroom suite in a perfect

Bedroom sets and suites come with a range of furniture and variety of nightstands and lighting. Talking of loft bedroom furniture, loft beds happen to be vogue. The simple construction and Oriental ‘look’ is quite ‘in’ and I would like to mention these designs in modern bedroom collections that allow the West and the East to fuse in function and style…this affair is back again….check out the ones I really fell for….

Ludlow Modern Bed

The Ludlow suite in white leather has a great presence! The low-slung understated design has a very composed and peaceful feel. You may like the tall headboard, notice and yet not get carried away….(I know.…) and look at the cozy nightstands…. it’s done with love, all of it….there are slats for the mattress…check out the sizes, I think it comes in King and Queen sizes…

Another suite I quite like is the Worth contemporary suite in classic Wenge finish. The stylish leather beauty has a creative side stands installed in the construction. The T shaped structure looks quite modish with a touch of class. Check out the symmetrical nightstands…I bet you haven’t missed the accents…in short, it’s worth it!

Suites that suit

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Saw these bedroom designs that tickle d grey matter. You get just not one, but different kinds of contemporary bedroom furniture. Wood platform beds will be it, what else. A bedroom where the light is right not only looks warm, but also feels calm and inviting. But I look around and see people complaining about lack of open space in the bedroom, and get a cue from it…..the demand is also for multi-functional beds that allow two-functions. Clutter or no-clutter, if it saves some of it around, I am sure it’s worth the dime. More on the matter, later…lemme post these exciting designs I saw on Spacify…..:)

Platform Storage Bed

The Monterey Platform bed suite is a solution to the clutter, guys. You see it now. The storage headboard is a cool idea, and the bed has six great storage draws. And I absolutely love the cubbies bench with three open storage selves. The nightstands come with two draws and the bed comes wit slats for mattress. What I like is the storage plus great casual appeal…. bed available as double suite/queen size. All done in composite wood.

Dresser

Another storage model that looks alike but has supplementary units I suggest is the Monterey modern which apart from all the units has the choice of dresser/nightstand and also an optional 6-draw dresser, while the central compartment has an adjustable shelf(kewl…yeah). Finish—cherry/white.

The Sonoma is a suite on similar lines and has a fabulous personal feel. I guess it can help you easily do up the rest of the décor with its all-time neutral finish or minimal modern style. I really hope some of the tips will help you fashion a room that can be your sophisticated snoozing sanctuary or a chilled out dream-time zone.

Storage on Designer platform beds

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

On more bedroom decorative ideas—focus is bed—accept it, your bed will be the most important feature in your room. The idea is to blend it with your bedroom’s theme, size-wise, color-wise and fashion-wise. A king-size bed won’t do justice to a smaller room, nor will a four post bed stand out amidst modern bedroom furniture. Designer platform beds may be a good idea to have around where space is a constraint. How? I suggest storage-cum-platform beds for smaller rooms.

Platform Storage Bed

Three models—the Monterey Twin, the Sonoma Tall and the Sonoma King(for bigger rooms). The Monterey looks like a fun things for toddlers and teenagers, the tall wooden bed looks at home. And it solves your storage probs effectively…the six draws under are sizey enough to hold all your bedding and linen. There are slats for support, and I quite like its understated presence….

For more storage(why this one looks like a vertical armoire all right), I suggest the Sohoma tall with 12 extra deep draws(19’’ deep). Uses composite woods in laminate finish. It’s practical…it’s highly attractive and available in two sizes. And for standard king size, you must check up the Sohoma King. Bigger bed—bigger draws. Love the details like metal braces under slats, the metal glides for draws and finger groves for ease in opening. Good stuff—all this….try and give it a try…

Modern contemporary beds!!

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Personal space, insightful rest and everyday retreat may sound familiar. Bedrooms are our little heavens. I believe that in line with today’s lifestyle, contemporary bedroom sets can help to impart your bedroom with warmth and coziness, and I feel every bit of the effort to be worth it. For crashing down on an inviting cozy bed after a hard days work feels like ……….everything!! Last week in town, I passed by some really neat designs, and found a couple on Spacify….here goes the list(ping me if you like ‘em)…

Bedroom Suite

The Palaron may look like everyday platform design, but on a close look you may fall for its subtle charms. The features: robust teak construction, details like round edges, great country feel, roomy dresser (optional) and cute nightstands. The finishes are fine in rotan gray/natural(check swatches). I really love the finish….oh it’s available in two standard sizes…

Bedroom Suite

Check up the other version of master bedroom suite—the L wooden has great design aesthetics. I would easily rate this furniture supreme; for teak is a hard wearing wood and can last a lifetime if taken care of. The pastoral charms are there, and the moderate headboard and footboard look considerate. Two finishes and two standard sizes…

Bedroom Suite

The Telaviv is an uber design for modern bedroom settings. This designer suite has all the elements and units to complete a bedroom theme. Equipped with slats for mattress (not the mattress though…?), the bed is a robust construction done in wood veneers. The set comes along with a set of 2-drawer nightstand and optional dresser(6-draw) and mirror. The high headboard seems to have become a fashion statement now…looks great I must admit…
