Castella Modern Audio or Video Unit

Deciding exactly how to store your television is no small task, and you may even have a harder time deciding when you see the Castella Modern Audio or Video Unit. This is a beautifully large entertainment center that comes in the choices of charcoal, chocolate, or soft sand. It will make setting up your television entertainment unit a true work of art with the use of this modernly designed furniture piece..

Another fantastic choice is the Cascade Type 5 Entertainment Unit by Statements International that is a more classic and traditional choice coming in a chestnut wood finish. This would go well with a dark and rich decor in any home to allow you to stylishly display your television and entertainment accessories. You can even remove the back portion of the top panel to allow slotting in the wall panel, if you so desire. There are also two wooden shelves included that you can place behind the wood framed tempered glass doors to allow for extra storage and use of your unit. So versatile!

The Las Vegas World Furniture Market—for Glitters Under One Roof

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Come January, the New Year 2008 is here with a boom thing for big box retailers and home furnishing stores. The World Market Center at Las Vegas is one of the most happening showcases for the home and furnishing industry, (http://www.lasvegasmarket.com) which also turns out to be the best upscale market in the country, one with faculties for international trade..

Recently, the World Market Center at Las Vegas hosted a Consumer Electronics Show (CES) offering buyers a widespread collection of permanent showrooms with the test in home theater entertainment, computer and home-office furnishings – all under one roof (On Jan 7 & 8th).

Expected to complete in 2012, the 12 million square feet World Market Center boasts of state-of-the-art exhibition area in 8 buildings on 57 adjacent acres in Vegas. But, the home furnishing industry need not wait till 2012, the WMC made a debut in 2005(July) providing the industry with a world-class environment with state-of-the-art conveniences, outstanding market representation, expediency, easy access, with exceptional amenities.

Looks like a promising place for both the furniture buyer and the retailer. Vegas Furniture Market takes place twice a year in January and summer (July) and is open only to members of the retail furniture and design trades. This year there are two events that mark the calendar in January—the MGM grand and the LAS VEGAS World Market Center and Pavilion from January 28 to 1st Feb. I guess, there is no fee to attend the market; you need to provide a Resale/Tax ID Number or Interior Design Certificate Number to register.

It seems the LAS VEGAS Market Center has the best infrastructure to support a trade complex. is rightly called the Convention Capitol of the World; it is trying to offer West Coast buyers, retailers and exhibitors a replacement for High Point.

Sustainable Design For Everyday Living

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Sometimes when I sift through design magazines and marvel at spread after spread of elaborately laid out living rooms; an overdose of crystal and glass and heirloom sculpted figures, I do wonder whether these are homes where people lead busy, everyday lives and where children play or just museums filled with collectibles?.

To me, a great design is one that works its way into our life, in a manner that’s both practical and beautiful. This is one of the reasons why some of the best contemporary designs are created in such a way that you can make it a conversation point in your living room and use it for your everyday needs..

Santo Media Tower

See the Santo Media Tower. If you have a den or an entertainment area in your living room this is ideal. You can store your equipment and CDs and DVDs and adjust the tower according to your needs. This is sustainable design that you can play with and that truly suits everyday living. Media stands can have multipurpose usage when it comes to today’s somewhat small apartment spaces..

Entertainment next

Media storage cabinets, I remember once I posted a couple of fine designs and had you all write in. yesterday, I was going through some modern designs on storage cabinets for a client, and could not help smiling. They were fine things, at least some of them. So here I am, back with more ideas….

Shelving units in bamboo are cool and ‘green’, but for media I guess we need something more elaborate. I found these models on Spacify by one of my fave designers Rick Lee. And I just had to post, I am excited. The one I chose had to do more with the kind of space and all. Personally, I feel all of them are nice. Sophisticated, may be a better word to describe the designs.

Starting with Cascade two, it has a display(fits into the interiors we have on mind for my project) and is the one I chose. The glass showcase and pull out draws and cabinets are all good. The top is for plasmas/LCDs, and I keep seeing possibilities of more uses, a bookshelf, for instance, or your media collection or something more….see it wants you to store more, and that’s the good part of Lee designs.

The Cascade-4 is great for bigger spaces, it’s a classy design. The wooden shelves, the lit-up tempered glass shelves, the smart cut-out for wiring, cool wooden doors, and the cut outs in the wood shelf for air ventilation, all calls for considerate designing. Good work….

The Cascade 3 is equally appealing. The TV just fits in there like a genius design. 3 drawers are couched behind the left wooden door, and the right reveals three shelves. The back portion of the top panel is removable for slotting in the wall panel if desire, equipped with two wooden shelves behind the tempered glass(which can again be lit up). I like the lower storage cabinets and the pull out design…hmm….call it a hit.
