My Little Bliss—My Space—My Bedroom

Friday, September 25th, 2009

When it comes to their own space, I guess kids are right in wanting to have a really ‘cool’ space they carry memories from, right into their adolescence and adult life. I guess formative years are important and the impressions stay for a long time. So, I don’t mind giving them a space that they will linger on to and feel cared for….

As for me, you see, I have this urge to add up something personal and creative when decorating a room. I like to hand-paint things, and friends say I did an OK job with painting a mural of clouds and greens with animals wandering around, guess our junior liked it too…then I turned a few trash stuff into hangings like J’s old balls, I painted them and made a wall hanging out of it…

But then it was a hectic schedule and demanded extra hours after work. It was satisfying for me though, as I liked it all the way, but then its me, there are a bunch of us who can’t find the time, and I guess I would like to bring a whole bed room experience alive for those….guess the buck makes it right here…..

Check out the Loft Contemporary Kids Bedroom that really is a knockout design. I love the colors and the sequence is lively for growing toddlers. And the practicality is pure joy. Everything is mobile and can be moved around the room to change the scheme and add something new. .

The Olive Green color scheme accommodates a twin size bed with twin size mattress, a study unit with storage shelves & desk, one storage-drawer cabinets, wardrobe and a trendy chair along with one nightstand beside the bed. Pretty much all that your young one will need in his room and to make it functional…you can do a bit of stuff yourself to add elements of personal touch..

Studio Stylish Kids Bedroom by Color

There is this and then there is another I fell over the heels—the Studio Stylish Kids Bedroom! The classy set includes the twin bed with stylish headboard and twin mattress, one nightstand on castors, and the desk with shelves and a trendy end table. The charcoal scheming looks really cool without seemingly kiddish and it has great visual appeal. The integrated desk and shelves makes a thoughtful design, while the overalls of the design leave you pleased!.

Growing Up on Sheets!

Friday, September 25th, 2009

New parents learn with experience. And some learn with sound advice by friends and family. Well, I take to both when it comes to deciding on comfort for growing tots. I like to reason out on best choices with an ever-fluctuating budget. But some things I like to stick to like good quality and longevity of a product. Well, there are some things that money can buy, and I like to invest in comfort, for babies literally unlearn to sleep as they grow and yet sleep is the dearest thing on earth for their learning minds…..

So, all you expecting parents and blessed one, here are a few no-nonsense products I would like to advice you and remember, its not just comfort and quality, it’s a combination of practicality and durability that should inspire you to give in to the best….

I like the Ultra Soft Fitted Sheet. Its soft and made with a durable material called Poly Chenille, which is both warm and highly comfortable for kids. The lightweight material is cozy and the prints and colors look fine too. Guess its on hand in four great colors, I really like the Sap green as it goes with the murals we have done in the baby’s room….

Alda Ultra Soft Throw Blanket

Well, sheets always make me wonder about covers. They need to be warm too. And that’s when we found the Alda Ultra Soft Throw Blanket. I was looking for something warm but light, something made of poly chenille too, and we found the blanket really useful. First winters would be a bit tough for the young one and I prepared early on…check out the colors Alda comes in…..

Pink Retro Flower Stokke 5 pc Crib Set

For parents looking to buy a set that’s both useful and classy—the Pink Retro Flower Stokke 5 pc Crib Set may fit the purpose. The overall practicality of the collection allows you to extend the life of the set when you put your tot to a toddler bed. The Bumper and fitted sheets convert to toddler bedding by using the quilt and the pillowcase with the fitted sheets. The fillings are in polyester while the fabric is again Poly Chenille…..

Baby’s Day Out, Bed In!

Friday, September 25th, 2009

My li’l hipster is all sleepy and all at this time of the day. And I, well I just managed to grab a bite (new moms, you know what I m talking about) and work a bit. While newborns sleep for 16-18 hours in early months, I guess mine is a bit active and prefers to wake up in between much before feeding time. Since, she’ll be spending so much time sleeping (lucky her!), I just thought I might just buy her a bassinet that will make her dream angels….

Well, there’s hardly much time to spend and I would like to dedicate it to all new moms, good job, all you ladies out there! I hope my efforts help out and save time (time you know…something we have little to bargain these days)!!.

Pink Retro Dot 3 Piece Bassinet Set

As I bumped into all laces and skirts looking pretty in pink and blues, I decided to look for something that’s more functional, not just the typical bassinet that lasts for 3-4 months till you are back to searching for a proper toddler crib and bed. And I found the Nest Bassinet really cool. The reasons are simple—it is sturdy, cute and on top of it all—it comes with a toddler daybed conversion panel. The bent plywood construction, metal base and 100% Polyurethane foam pad with moisture resistant Tyvek cover—I think it’s sturdy & chic..

Eva Play Kit by Pkolino

If you like, you can extend the life of the Nest Bassinet by getting the Conversion Kit. Use the kit to convert the bassinet into a day play table and a toy bin as your child grows. I fell for its practicality as I don’t like things to lie around JLT (just like that). The rounded edges come coated with water-based lacquer, while the four rubber feet are ideal for a toy bin..

Orange Mod Cube Stokke 5 pc Crib Set

By the way, for toddlers, the Nest Modern crib is not a bad choice by any standards. The crib is blessed with two-way functionality and can be easily switched as lunch table. I like the sturdy structure and metal base and the rounded edges….just the thing that needs to be taken care of, and kids seem to get along well too, mine does…..

Read Designs On Bunk Beds

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Been meaning to post some more on child bedroom furniture (n d topic demands I keep hearing from you all…keep writing in). Last week was busy—refashioned the terrace and this time we did a new style of terrace-scaping (hahha), We have variety of bamboos, fichus and palms that stand tall and green for the energy and shelter, then we have the seasonal flowers in red and yellow and shocking pink…. so dats about a bit of stuff that kept me occupied in free time, but mostly it’s the traveling that eats away the time (you know how it is)…so here goes the long due post….

Ok, so was it kids bunk beds that you guys are looking for. I am not against the idea except that I have been looking for some really innovative designs. And I found some great ones by…………any guesses!!!! Nursery works and Ducduc….

Duet Modern Bunk Bed

The Duet Modern Bunk Bed by Nursery works is a great model for children’s room. Pluses—cubbies, draws underneath the bed and a contemporary ladder and bed design. Cons—none but expensive, but not if you look at the add-ons, I would say its worth every buck. I like the style, and the design is quite contemporary—ladder et al. great work…

I like two of Ducduc latest—the Fillmore Designer Bunk Bed & the Fillmore Loft. Starting with the bunk bed, the safety factor weighs up(even with the Duet) with the clean lines and blunt edges. I think the choice of trundle bed OR the drawers to be practical. The cut-out rungs ladder fees safe for slightly smaller kids. The armoire and shelves are cool too. Claims to be non-toxic (again add to the safety factor), claims to use 100% sustainably harvested grain-matched hardwoods.

The Fillmore Designer Loft Bed I like for its upbeat make and economy of space. The choice is yours—use it as trundle bed or a modular bunk system. This one too has an armoire with shelves for more storage (read considerate designing…). The guardrails are thoughtful, and the design accommodates 8-inch high twin x-long mattress. Now the best part abt the design—you can either attach the bottom bed underneath (like a regular bunk) or use it perpendicular for a change. like dem all…
