More on toddler beds

On regular kids bedroom furniture, I must say there are many a designs that caught my eye last week. While recollecting, I realize that there were three that actually struck the cord. For all you parents and kiddos, I must add points on details that make a furniture last. That adds up to the value of your buck(practically), and feels good in the long run. Kids will grow, and so will their needs, so invest wisely and look up particular details. If crammed up room is the problem, try and find child bedroom furniture with storage facility. This will solve two problems at a time. Why, you even get baby nursery furniture these days with convertible kits that easily transforms a crib into a toddler bed at no extra cost.

I like the Austin twin for its contemporary features. The modern kids bedroom furniture makes simple design with intelligent storage The bed beneath is equipped with four storage cubbies, or a trundle bed for extra little guests. The headboard is in place, and the Ducduc product claims to be made from cent percent sustainable harvested woods(all of them…hmmm).

Another Ducduc beauty on board is the Fillmore twin. The platform bed looks cool and comes with the choice of twin mattress with or without the box spring. I think the choice of trundle versus draws to be a cool idea(just hope you don’t start getting ideas of a small crib and a draw underneath). I bet most of us would opt for the trundle with standard twin mattress instead of draws. Oh yes, the fancy headboard comes as rectangle, oval or snowboard(you read it right) and its not all…..you can request for multiple headboards too…cool child bedroom furniture it makes….

You also get Ducduc standards like the Morgan that is pretty neat. Simplicity prevails. The full-size bed for youngsters has a tall headboard and decent features that mark sophistication. Has four storage drawers with leather pulls and orange interiors.

Bedding by Nurseryworks

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Kid bedding novelties, well…can’t stop from posting few of these unique designs. Childrens bedroom furniture would look bare without these essential sleeping things. Bumpers, fitted sheets, skirts, shams and quilts; I guess the details really matter when it comes to aesthetics and comfort.

Sweet Violet Crib Bedding Set

Ok, all three of the bedding sets are charming. For once, I can’t choose, they are great stuff. No wonder they are Nurserywork designs!! The Sweet Violet Crib Bedding Set has bold flower patterns in sprightly colors. Designed for modern cribs, the set has a great natural feel and includes fitted sheet, sham, pillow insert, crib skirt, bumper and quilt.

Pinwheel Pumpkin Crib Bedding Set

The Pinwheel Pumpkin Crib Bedding Set Pinwheel Pumpkin Crib Bedding Set can pass as ideal bedding for early teen bedroom furniture minus the bumpers n stuff. Looks plush with both backdrops (white and blue) against the contrasting patterns. Uses cotton poplin (all three) and I love the pinwheel patterns that are a pitch artistic than tasteful. The set has it all for a crib plus some attitude.

Confetti Crib Bedding Set

The Confetti Crib Bedding Set has a lively presence. The vibrant dots along with the contrasting red lining can be stimulating for your child’s imagination (n how kids love colors). I like the balance of colors, which is neither too loud, nor too subdued, feels great. Oh, n I guess all the bumpers are reversible. The sets are quite cheerful, just the thing for little ones n toddlers…..so now you know why I had to post, yes, J loves dem too….

Rocking Chair

Going through some rocker versions (don’t know what they call them, you see) in the mall, I just wondered whatever happened to the idea of standard rocking chair made for sheer rocking movement. I was briefly ushered to a floor chair that’s a rocker shape all right(for really small kids) that could be adjusted in two positions, one fixes the movement to a still while the other turns it into a semi-rocker(why semi? Bcos the complete rocking movement can’t happen as it touches the floor). One can transform the kids chair into a feeding chair and a rocker at will and fancy( only I just felt it’s a halfway thing, poor design).

A lot-bit disappointed, I came back for rocker designs and baby furniture and was so delighted to see some really considerate designs. And some variations can be seen in the Glider chair, but that has nothing to do with the concept of classic rockers. You can opt for an ottoman in bent plywood, but it does nothing spectacular to the movement, and I like the design for babies, small and big. Uses micro suede and the designz by Nurseryworks (thanks guys).

More on classic lines; also check up the Storytime rocker by Nursery works. Based on the classic rocker theme and touched with contemporary chair on top, I quite like the part where older kids can easily associate with the design, as the chair makes it play for bigger kids too. It’s a fabulous design. And the upholstery fabrics include four fine shades of cotton canvas and five equally elegant shades of microsuede. We like it, don’t we.

Another model for consideration is the Sleepytim e. I suggest it for slightly bigger kids who like to hang out their legs and push them against the leg support below. I like the armrests, and the chair looks safe for feeding kids who pop out their heads before falling asleep…cool design, lots of fabric colors.

ICFF Highlights – CASAkids

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

On more of ICFF’s green theme, must mention the Lannone’s cork dear cabinet and the table, which used car parts in vibrant colors (quite airy), well…well…we are inspired. Then the Waste lamp made by recycled plastic knives was a fresh idea…there are more, actually I am not yet over with kids furniture, and must say there is more to come on kids bed, unique toddler bedroom furniture, baby nursery furniture and more….

The post’s focus—CASAkids founded by designer Roberto Gil. Gil, I believe has designed successful furniture ranges for names like Offi, Simplicity, Alex Toys, Ameriwood, Crate and Barrel, and Williams-Sonoma. The unique touch in his designs can be marked by proficient use of material and innate connecting systems that are inspired by ‘practical minimalism’. I am with the concept of furniture in terms of longevity, a connection that most of us are losing out on. Why…. I remember furniture used to be a part of growing up when we were young…. and kids do get comfortable thinking of furniture they have grown on, literally…. beds, for instance…

Ivan Modern Crib

I like the Ola! Crib. The crib is designed to last your baby from birth, to toddler-hood right into teenage. The convertible crib has a three height-adjustable mattress platform and fixed side rails. Constructed using the eco-friendly Lyptus wood that is a product of a hybrid variety of Eucalyptus(mostly grown in Brazil).

Fillmore Youth Twin Size Bed

To convert from a crib, simply remove the sides and transform it to an Ola! Toddler bed and twin size bed. Once the toddler bed outgrows, the crib’s side panels can be used to convert it into a twin bed. Isn’t it great….on a second thought, its fabulous designing, Roberto.

Campaign 4 Drawer Dresser

I must say the Ola! Dresser is a product of superb engineering. Marked with signature creativity, the Lyptus and MDF construction can be retained long after your child has grown up. The armoire and dresser are designed to last. The drawers do not use metal sliders, and rather slide on hardwood runners. The 4-drawer unit makes a clean neat design.

Ola!….does Ola not mean Hello in Spanish! Well…. Ola! We are here with you….

Kids Playroom Furniture

Baby furniture, kids storage, childrens bedroom furniture……what next? I should have seen all your mails to get the hint. Well, storage did strike me as an important element, and I do understand that clutter can get unnerving at times, and you just keep wondering whether you should let kids be kids or just try to set up the rules first. I suggest you relax, and let them be kids. For the clutter, you can always have something like a toy bin/box and ask them to put back the toys once the playtime is over.

Take a look at the Fuji toy box handcrafted(yes) using birchwood. I like the storage idea that doubles up as the fun bench on the floor. The slow closing lid on top is designed for the safety of little hands, and the unit can be moved around. I can but feel the excitement of evening play times in the patio with the mobile play bin! The choice of colors is fine…

For older kids, I suggest the Eiffel contemporary on wheels…..wheeeeeew. it’s a rather cute design with a central open space for display. More of a display unit with rectangular book shelves around. It’s a fun design….also check out the cool loom storage face=”Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif” size=2> system designed after you know what…?

I think it’s nice and all for older kids, the aesthetics are superb. The idea is to store, play and sit. And be on move. The Trolley toy storage fits under the base unit with ease, the multifunctional trolley acting as a seating unit and the base with subdivided tray functions alone as a desk for study/play (play looks more on the mind with kids anyway). Best features: one base unit with two top units for storage, individual pieces can be stacked or used separately, has a kit for securing system to wall for safety(did it look like it will slide on to you at first glance). Well….non-toxic lacquer and veneers, water-resistant fabric are in place. I really think it’s a unique design…..give it your eye…

Active space..

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Few of us understand and relate to the quandary of active space. When it comes to kids, detangle the web of rules. I feel kids room furniture to be a challenge of its kind, for it calls for a host of practical details like clever use of space, allowing a trace of liveliness and source of high function and action.

 Kids Dressers

Contemporary Storage in context to toddler furniture calls for a range of modular choices and designs. And we are getting there, artfully, at least that’s what I feel after taking a look at the design scenario. I like the Tommy-5 draw chest by Powell. The drawers are roomy and the design peppy. Done in green dowell frame, the yellow panels stand out in harmony. I like the spindles and storage volume.

Call it a spindle series, but I love the Tommy entertainment unit in navy blue and red. With two spacious draws and open shelves, it appears more than complete for little kids. The Plasma/LCD/TV comes on top, and the video unit below…the spindles are in natural wood color..sprightly unit, this one

 Kids Dressers

Tommy series dresser is an extension of the concept . Love the mirror in blue and red border with the top spindles(though you could opt without one). The 6-auto stopping draws look roomy. The space below the mirror is average. What I love is the ‘built in’ factor, no need for assembly. And it’s great for little soldiers and princess both….adaptable systems for childrens bedroom furniture

Furniture for Teens

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Teenage is a bumpy time. The energy, peer pressure, pimples(!!!we’ve all bin there), need for association, add studies barging hormones and the desire to be accepted as it is. Well, I feel the need to cover up more on teen stuff, kids storage and kids furniture and décor….let’s start with some cool designs(just for gen X )…. Very few baby furniture stores display specific segment for teens. Here goes my list of faves….just for you all out there….hang in….there will be more…

 Kids Furniture

The Cameron storage bench is hip. I love the metal frame and handles and the camouflaged patterns and the cool green seat. It has a rugged upbeat feel and attitude. The drawer faces are reversible, and it displays reversible PVC on the other side. Yes, the casters are in place.

The Teen rolling bench is quite fashionable and functional. The white PVC cushion turns into a writing surface with a flip. It has a storage area below, and casters for mobility. The orange and white panels look spirited.Tthe casters can be assembled easily.

 Kids Furniture

Then there is the Bauble Girls storage that appears like a shade card. I think it is chirpy. With six drawers, I am sure girls will find all the space to stack up things. The upholstered seat in pink uses microfiber, and the casters need assembly. Check up the exact colors…

Design is work of …..

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Ok. For all you interested in convertible cribs, I have good news. Why…..I could not have imagined such high response on kids room furniture. To begin with, expecting parents do not be overwhelmed with what is going to be right for your new born. Well, you could ask new parents, or may be parents of slightly older kids, and they will offer sound advice(call it fresh bout of experience). And for kids bedroom furniture, keep watching this space for dynamic designs and décor concepts…..and relax, things always fall into place with insightful thinking.

 Kids Bedroom Furniture

I am suggesting three great models —Morgan & Austin by Ducduc and the Studio by Nurseryworks. The Morgan has all the essential elements to call it the complete thing. The best features—converts to a full-length toddler bed without a conversion kit(yeah) and the cool storage draws(with leather pulls and signature orange interiors..:). All the safety regulars are in place—the finish is hand-rubbed and non-toxic, has a platform style mattress support, four mattress heights, fixed rails and a mortise-n-tenon construction.

To match up to a regular crib, I like the Austin crib that comes with an optional bed conversion kit. A neat design with the perpendicular side rails(with lock-mitre joints), looks like symmetrical and all. Claims to not use MDF/particle board, must mention all Ducduc products claim to use sustainable harvested grain-matched hardwood(I’m with the green cause)…

 Kids Bedroom Furniture

The Studio crib is all brains n beauty(trying it the other way). Makes use of flexible and interchangeable componentry, I like the overall concept n aesthetics. Best features—under crib draw, the changing table hideaway cabinets for tid-bits, the changing table mechanism that is smooth and easy, and the best coming up……converts to toddler bedroom furniture (read daybed) and built-in desk. All in all, it’s a chic thing with umpteen loads of attitude. Check out the finish and colors….etc etc..
