Lure in the living room

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Wooden coffee tables are inspiring things. Creative use of color, great upholstered chairs, and unique table shapes in bold materials can make a living room look gorgeous. You can also mix the antiques look with modern pieces of your living space to hold the contrast, and to spice up the theme. Elements of interest, comfort and functionality top the list when you sit down to count on features. Coffee tables can infuse a space with vitality, be it the vintage, the traditional or the uber styling, all achieved perfectly with a perfect formula.

Whether designing a modern space like a home theatre seating area, or a more traditional one, a home should always carry the warmth and delight of a known space, a home in its essence. Do not underplay the importance of individual elements integrated to make the big impression. Also little bit of surprise zones here and there add to the personal styling. Last week i saw this great bedroom with little details like funky feather lace hanging from the curtains. It looked stunning and our charming host added she loves to see feather lace ever since she was a child….and she brought it to her own space in the most creative ways, must admit…

Modern Design Hits The Mall

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Looks like reputed hands are shaking their way towards strong image building. Macy’s, the national brand delivering fashion and affordable luxury to customers joined hands with Met Home, a stunning and dramatic home furnishings group. The Chicago store celebrates the debut of its new home furnishing collection in collaboration with Met Home..

Met Home is a popular design magazine appealing to urban mindset far-and-wide, setting standards on how to live well today. The magazine’s attitude and distinctive style has impacted the quality of design in the world of contemporary lifestyle. It has gained wide-ranging popularity from cosmopolitan readers, winning intelligent and progressive readership..

It goes to say that Macy’s location in downtown Chicago hosted the North American debut of the highly anticipated Metropolitan Home Collection by Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz. The launch took place on September 26, 2007 with a VIP evening preview reception hosted by Macy’s and Metropolitan Home magazine. Produced by Shermag, Inc., the wide-ranging collection included case goods and upholstery in three speckled lifestyles: weekend getaway homes, urban loft living, and luxury upscale living..

Macy’s designers and visual merchandisers have been working throughout the summer to transform the 2,500-square-foot Trend House into designer Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz’s casually glamorous vision of today’s contemporary home. Incorporating his vision and use of furnishings as sculptural forms, they almost become architectural in nature, with rooms emerging as living works of art. Noriega believes that today’s modern homes must meet the lifestyle and be multi-functional on different levels. It is this element, which defines the mix of pieces that converge to shape a room’s design..

We like it, Noriega, Macy’s & Met Home—the perfect 3—what more can we ask for….

Rome and Cinnamon!!

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Sprucing up a neutral palette of colors in the bedroom may not be your idea of individual taste (unless you like it to the bone). I prefer injection of colors here and there, indirect accents that allow a fine shade to your overalls and the chemistry can be magical. Neutral beddings with purposeful color accents can help you add charms to otherwise dull bedroom furnishings. Home furnishings mean so much more these days….need to dedicate a sole post on the topic some day….

Bedding Sets

I am putting up a couple of beddings in line with the neutral shades; I guess retiring colors are best for beddings for they have a restful effect. It’s a good idea to go in with natural hues….earthy tones….like the Rome comforter set( a tone mod). Something close to my idea of relaxation, this Roman beauty can be set in a day. Includes a kind comforter, 2 king shams, I skirt, bolsters, 2 pillows and 3 euros. Love the blue contrast border against the chocolate brown…what about you..

Bedding Sets

Must also mention the Cinnamon set. The soothing set has rich choc browns with soft ivory accents. The oversized comforter deals with all bed and mattress sizes. What I like is the subtle effect that is immediately calming. The Polyester set is available in Taupe/Mocha….yeah it’s nice. The Image Blue is probably my favorite, and I love the squares on the comforter, the light shade of blue and the brown contrast otherwise. Available in standard king/queen size. Btw, the cording on sham and comforter is all in place( read wearability)…check dem up…
